February: The Babes hit the Beach

by Peppie

Last Sunday, we all went to the 1770 beach where I taught Coco to swim.

I had great assistance from Adored Father with the baby's initial introduction to the water. As close followers of the Greens of Agnes Water will know, Adored Father was a swimming coach of great repute in his younger days.   Father imparted his famous 'secret breathing' technique to Coco as he had many years before to Shane Gould, and soon declared 'Coco was born to swim!'   Being my gracious unassuming self, I let Coco win the first race. Out of the water we pranced and danced chasing sunbeams and each other.  The non-race leader below is Coco wearing her wet mop coiffure. We shall go down to the sea again and I shall expect further improvements from my protege.

First, I give her a quiet word about the main dog-paddle water resistance and hydro propulsion strokes energy exchange factors.

Then I show her by example the strokes and let her gain confidence by beating me

OH NO!  Revered Mother has taken the keyboard from my paw.....

RM: Indeed I do.  It appears to have slipped our darling Peppie's recollections that the teaching of Coco to swim took no more than the teaching of Peppie (ie many years ago when Peppie came to live with me, I swam into the ocean and Peppie  just followed me in and kept swimming - no secret breathing then though I admit)   But if it keeps Peppie and Tom happy to take all the credit then Coco and I can live with that.
