August 2006 - I have Returned!

by Peppie

To all those from around the globe who have written, phoned, sent bones - Yes, I am very much alive and well and still living in Paradise. And Coco also, despite my best efforts. Sigh.

However, it must be said, and said well within the Revered One's earshot, that animadversion for the lack of updating the Pups Page since May cannot be laid at my dainty feet. Being a Lhasa Apso I shall not enter into paw pointing but a wink and nod should suffice.

To appraise you of the more important events during the long silence, I shall commence with the Happy Event. A most discerning young lady, Miss Anita, Pepe a great admirer of Lhasa Apsos as you would expect, and with whom I have been corresponding since March, took delivery in July of her darling girl, Pepe ( my namesake you know, but Anita has a slight spellng deficiency I suspect, but I never menton it in our communications).

Princess Pepe comes from the same clan Mother as Coco, Janet of the Animal House. So, although Miss Anita is a Net friend and therefore usually subject to much suspended belief, if Janet has approved her for one of the precious babes, then she gets the nod around here. Her last email said, and I quote, ' Totally the new light of my life. ' A torch would have been more economical of course....

I can only trust Miss Anita resists the temptations of Pepe's devotion and play bunny mannerisms in the way the Revered One has not been able to do. RO is totally smitten by Coco and they peer into each others eyes cooing - I tell you the exact truth. Even the Adored One openly declares he has never seen such devotion from a dog, nor a dog so human in its affection nor with eyes that look straight into yours - well, you get the picture. I must remain ever vigilant that the Cocobean doesn't sway beloved father to her fluffy side! Never! He is mine - mine- all mine! {oww- that was a very un-Lhasa Apso moment!}

Much of June and July was spent flat out workng on the landscapng. I had to take up my position, immedately after breakfast, on the back verandah sofa and indicate wth a nod of the head or the occassional flick of the plume to the contractors where to place soil, move rocks, take levels etc. They were excellent and rarely was an instruction needing to be repeated.

Now that it is August, I have the dive bombing nesting male magpies to contend wth - I direct them towards the cheeky mini-foxy across the road. The nesting eagles at the back of the land fortunately think my matronly girth a tad heavy for airflight though sadly my invitations for them to take Coco have fallen on deaf ears.
