Agnes and Ecstasy June 2008 I know - I know! One day more and it will be July and here I am just posting the June Chronicle. However, if it is an excuse you are looking for, then look no more! I have an arm loadful. Although as is my policy, if a person offers one excuse for not doing something, I tend to believe them (as long as their eyes don't flick to the left) but should they offer more than one, then I know they speak with forked tongue and need banishing from my presence. And so to The Excuse. Last month we had dear friends from the Gold Coast up to stay during the 1770 Festival and as the lady is not one to sit about gazing
Happenings about Town Meanwhile, the new Council has been up to good works across our little region. Smart Yellow Topped Recycle Bins have appeared in orderly rows along the boulevards (ok ok roads but I liked my image better!). Everything recyclable per family goes into one Smart Yellow Topped Recycle Bin and I have hysterical moments thinking about the little gnomes who must sit up nights sifting through each bin load sorting out Paper goes Here, Tins go There, Glasses oops no start again. Sigh. I even hear that the new electricity power station that was to open May 2007 then May 2008 will be opening August 2008. I do hope so, else I am going to invest in a very large pair of pruning shears and lope down all those ugly monstrosities erected for this project. With the surge in petrol prices and the death of the property market, things are not exactly jumping in Agnes Water 1770. However something I find very interesting is reflected in the web site analysis of visitors to this site - by that I mean who comes to look at this site, how long they stay, how many pages they visit, which town and country they come from and perhaps most importantly what brought them to this site. Comparing those stats over the past three months in comparison to the previous three years - I am going to make a prediction for the next two years for our little corner of Queensland that : 1) tourism will be down, but 2) residential will be up, and (now I am really hanging my self out to ridicule!) 3) development will be up. The weather has been perfect and I hear the fish have been biting although Tom is right onto the Premier, and every one up and down the list, regarding the closure of reef fishing this Christmas. Not that he gets out but it does seem wrong after all the tourism disappointments this region has had these past twelve months. Nail in the coffin he told me as he zotted off his letter. Should you be of a like mind, please consider also writing to the premier as soon as possible. Finally, for those of you who don't yet live here, this is the sunset through the burning off haze in the National Park that surrounds our little village. It was almost surreal. If you enjoy this site, please write and let me know cos I shortly have to finalise what pages to drop from the site due to being double my server allowance and additional costs are just not appropriate.
