Breathes there an independent journo who can get on their bike and come here without fear or favour to review objectively this tranquil Agnes Water 1770 haven?

Tom and I are among those people who don't hold with 'We are set now with our home built, so close the stable door and don't let any more folk come to paradise'. We want more folk living and working here, as opposed to 'investing' in vacant land or empty luxury apartments. With residents comes services currently unaffordable - like a Medical Centre and Chemist that can open in Agnes on Bundaberg Show day. A choice of really pleasant dining restaurants and maybe somewhere one can buy lingerie or a jumper. Even a secondary school here so kids don't have to be sent away to private schools on the subsidies our taxes pay their local parents. Here are just three of the current investment offerings although there are five more large resorts selling off the plan or underway.

Above: Proposed site at 1770 for new luxury beachside apartments (at Billboard site)
Below: Nearing completion, Pavillions luxury beachside apartments in Agnes Water

And finally: Almost complete, luxury apartments by the beach in the centre of town

Currently, Agnes Water 1770 is a gorgeous spot for:
- people in good health who are really big on fishing and/or surfing
- families with pre-secondary school age children
- folk who have little or no active thirst for the arts (or even going to a movie house),
- people who are totally over being shopoholics
- back packers, santa clause beards, aging pony tails, Mary Janes friends
- folk who go to sleep early cos night life belongs to the cane toads mainly.
- people who like to drive, not fly.
It will not be like this forever. Just as electricity and sealed roads finally came to Agnes Water 1770, so will the services come to attract and transport the hordes needed to fill all the hundreds of new and proposed sand dune apartments. But until then - Negative Gearing may be the only occupant for 80% of those that sell. When this rush of construction subsides and every holiday apartment or house is not rented by construction workers, there will be a lot of stock returned to the rental market.
If I ruled the world (or at least Agnes Water) I would open up now some of that zoned and cleared residential land and build duplexes or sell off single residence parcels to bring in the base population that is needed to attract the services required that will then support and attract the tourism influx (of non-backpackers and non-grey nomad caravaners) needed to fill the high priced apartments.
